Every year brings a new trend in the website design industry. What might have been a hot design for 2016 might not have the same craze in 2017. Therefore as a designer you must be aware of the current trends in the design industry to get more clients. Here are few design trends that are ruling 2017 and would continue to do so in the months to come.
Parallax Effect
Parallax effect became the talk of the town in 2016 and it’s effect does not seems to fade even in mid of 2017. In parallax effect the background content which is essentially an image moves at a different speed than the foreground content while scrolling.
One of the changes in parallax effect which is being seen in 2017 is of upward scrolling rather than downward scrolling and movement that captures more layered design.
Mobile First
With half of the global traffic coming from mobile it’s no wonder that designers are making it a priority to make responsive website design.
The method that designers usually apply is to create a design for mobile device first and then move to desktop design. This method helps them to include only the important elements on the homepage and the pages are thus less crowded. One of the problem that designer do face is to make a website responsive for all browser across all device.
Content Rules
Content is the king and is the center of every design process. Most of the website either use a single photo with a title and a single line in large fonts or they use large content decks in the form of individual cards. The one thing that has changed is the removal of sidebar, thumbnail and no refreshing comment.
As a designer one must focus on where the content should be placed so that it has the highest impact and click rate from the visitor.
Asymmetrical Design
Perfectly shaped image are a thing of past and asymmetric images have take over. Many designers have started using asymmetrical design to give their website a fresh look and a move away from a simple symmetrical designs.
The one problem that the designers would be facing while using asymmetrical design is to sort out what to do with the white spaces that are left in the design process. One important recommendation would be to have colorful images to complement the white space left.
Microinteractions
Making users interact with website via animation and scrolling effect is taking over simple website design. Not only this gives an eye catching look to the website but it also helps user to remain busy and not lose attention while the website is being loaded.
With the average time that the user are spending on a website keeps on decreasing, it is becoming more and more important for designers to create elements that makes users glued to the website. As such one would see a huge rise in microinteraction being used in websites.
Card Layout
Pinterest is one of the best example of how one can effectively use card layout design to create an amazingly attractive website. With Material Design Guideline brought by Google this trend has become extremely popular. The major user of card layouts are content based or image based website.
Long Scrollable Website
Majority of your target audience would be coming on a mobile device where they can easily scroll down to see the content. Keeping this in mind designers are making long scrollable website that has most of the content on the same page rather than having several sub-pages.
These are some of the major design trends of 2017. We are sure there would be some other design trends that are popular in 2017 and if you know any then do share your views in the comment box below.
